SH Jewellery Supports Save the Children with i=Change

The Organisation Behind the Impact

Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organisation for children, working hard to ensure every child gets a healthy start in life, an education and the chance at a better future.

With the help of supporters like SH Jewellery, Save the Children make a difference to the lives of millions of children every year, both here in Australia and around the world, giving a powerful voice to children and championing their rights.

Guided by their vision to protect the rights of children and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Save the Children help children in the following areas:

  • Health: they improve the health of children and their families so children can survive those early years of life. They help protect them from preventable illnesses that stop them playing with their friends, developing important skills and staying in school.
  • Education: the best way to break the cycle of poverty is to keep children in the classroom. That's why Save the Children work in Australia and overseas to create greater access to quality education and ensure girls and boys are able to learn in safe and positive environments.
  • Child Protection: it is everyone's responsibility to ensure children are safe at all times. Save the Children work in Australia and around the world to prevent children being exposed to abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence. They inform others on how they can do their part in protecting children.
  • Emergencies: when disaster strikes, Save the Children make sure children are given care and emotional support to survive and recover. They provide them with food, water, shelter and comfort, and build temporary schools so they can continue to learn and maintain a normal life while they help their communities rebuild.

Key Challenges & Opportunities:

Ongoing and sustainable funding is always a top issue, as Save the Children have an increasing number of families who want to participate in the programs. They are also constantly trying to improve their programs so they are meeting the needs of all of the culturally diverse families that attend.

Micro Goals:

Save the Children want to be able to support migrant and refugee families to settle in Australia and help mothers thrive and give their children the best start in their new life.

Macro Goals:

At a macro-level, Save the Children want to ensure that migrant and refugee children are not disadvantaged by their circumstances and have equal opportunities to excel in their lives, and that mothers like Aziza and children like Tamseel are welcomed and supported to settle successfully in Australia.
