Product & Order Enquiries

Product & Order Enquiries
If we have your desired piece in-store, you may purchase it and take it home on the day. If we don’t have the item available, we will need to place an order, which can take approximately 4-5 weeks. Our staff will keep you updated on the progress of your order and estimated collection time.
Yes, all of our exclusive designs can be made in 18kt yellow gold or rose gold. Simply select your desired metal when configuring your ring on the product page.
We predominantly use 18kt white gold, yellow gold, rose gold and platinum. The quality of gold in our jewellery is specifically formulated for exceptional brightness, high durability, a pleasing colour and hypo-allergenic qualities.
All the materials we use are natural resources that come from the earth. We do not reuse or recycle metal as these materials can cause porosity and limit strength and durability.
Why white gold is preferred:
• White gold is a harder material than platinum, meaning scratches do not run as deep and the surface stays brighter when the ring is used and scratched. Platinum will obtain scratches much more rapidly than white gold.
• Prong tightening is not required as often on white gold as the metal is more stiff. Although extremely hard impacts can break a prong altogether on white gold rings, the prongs on platinum rings will bend rather than break off. This is of course under extreme conditions.
• White gold maintenance, resizing, re-modelling and repair work is much more readily available than platinum. On-going work related to platinum generally costs more and finding a jeweller willing to do the work is also more difficult.
Why platinum is preferred:
• Platinum is a naturally white colour so over the years as you scratch up your ring, the yellowish tinge which appears in white gold, does not occur on platinum. White gold rings require rhodium platinum every 1-3 years to restore the original whiteness.
• Platinum is a ductile material so with hard bumps and scratches, the prongs holding your gemstones in place will wear better over time.
• White gold can sometimes cause a rash for people with sensitive skin or allergies (this is a very small percentage of the population), whereas platinum is considered a safer option in this respect.
Weighing up the benefits of both we find that more customers choose white gold. White gold will stay brighter for longer, even though rhodium plating is required every few years. Keep in mind that platinum also requires the same process to remove deep scratches.

Customisation
FAQs
Customisation
While we are able to make small aesthetic changes to your setting height and include additional diamonds in your band, we do not offer a full custom build experience. This is also due to the fact that we like to thoroughly test all our designs for durability and useability measures. As an independent jeweller, our collection is completely unique to the SH brand, so you won’t find the same ring of equal proportions and quality anywhere else in the world! Our collection includes a wide range of styles from traditional favourites to more modern designs catering to all variety of tastes and budgets.
Yes, please contact us if you already have your own diamond and would like it set into one of our designs. Not all ring settings are able to be fitted with customers' diamonds, but we will do what we can to accommodate you.
Diamonds & Gemstones
FAQs
Diamonds & Gemstones
Every diamond our team selects is checked by certified gemologists and trusted diamond experts with whom we've developed relationships over 20 years in the industry. Thanks to our experienced team and their stringent selection process, our diamonds are consistently 3-4 grades higher than industry standards and 7-8 grades higher than chain retailers.
All SH Jewellery diamonds are naturally occurring diamonds formed under the Earth’s crust by Mother Nature over billions of years. Each of our diamonds’ GIA certification papers and matching laser inscriptions verify this independently determined authenticity.
SH Jewellery does not sell synthetic or lab-grown diamonds, which can be artificially mass produced in a lab within a matter of weeks. With synthetic diamonds’ rise in popularity comes a decline in rarity, and the uncertainty surrounding resale value of lab-grown diamonds remains a key factor in our customers’ decisions to invest in natural diamonds.
The 4Cs (Cut, Clarity, Colour & Carat) determine the quality and shape of your diamond.
Cut - The cut of the diamond refers to the shape of the stone; the proportions of the diamond and its ability to sparkle by returning a large amount of light.
Clarity - The clarity of the diamond refers to the number of inclusions in the diamond. Higher quality diamonds are free of impurities, whereas lower quality diamonds have more impurities that can be seen by even the untrained eye. A diamond with the highest clarity range is deemed Flawless to VVS (Very, Very Slight inclusions). This means no inclusions in the diamond can be seen by the naked eye and that the diamond is extremely clear.
Colour - In the jewellery world, diamonds are graded on a D to Z scale, with D being the highest colour grade (the whitest). As the colour decreases through the alphabet, the diamond appears more yellow and the value gradually decreases.
Carat - The carat refers to how much the diamond weighs. As the diamond’s weight increases, so does the size and value.
The best colour is “D”, which represents the whitest diamond. The diamond scale starts at the letter D.
The colours “DEF” represents the top colour range for all colourless diamonds, and is what we specialise in at SH Jewellery.
Yes, 100%. Our diamonds are sourced in South Africa and Russia and cut in various cutting centres around the world. We only work with specific cutting partners, proving their diamonds are ethically sourced and not responsible for human rights abuses, child labour, violence or environmental degradation.
We source our sapphires from specific suppliers in Sri Lanka. Our Rubies are sourced from specific suppliers in Burma.
This serial number is laser inscribed on your diamond and is a security feature, linking your particular diamond to a diamond grading certificate. This is usually available for diamonds above 0.30cts.
The best way to authenticate your GIA certificate is to visit the GIA website and enter the certification number where requested.
Smaller diamonds don’t come with GIA certificates, however your invoice will specify all details of your product and diamonds. If a valuation is required, we can have one for the cost of $100 per item. If the valuation is for insurance purposes, your purchase invoice will include this cost.

Service & Repairs
Yes, if you purchased your item from SH Jewellery, we offer complimentary cleaning up to 6 times per year. To book an appointment for cleaning, resizing or repairs, or to find out about our service pricing for jewellery not purchased from SH, please click here.
Resizing usually requires 7 business days due to the high demand for this service.
We advise that you have your jewellery checked every 6 – 9 months to identify any maintenance required.
Yes, this is possible upon inspection, however some jewellery pieces may not be able to be repaired in our workshop depending on the design and materials used.
No, we don’t offer any yellow gold plating surfaces.
No, as it is highly likely that the diamond will fall out again. If we begin to tamper with or repair a small section of the setting, the rest of the setting may become compromised.
If the piece is delivered to us during the week it can usually be completed the same day (depending on the workshop workload). If delivered on the weekend it will take 2-3 business days. During busier periods this can also change. Please contact us to discuss specific requirements.

No, we do not buy jewellery or gold from the general public.

For people working in the medical field we suggest choosing platinum. This is due to the constant contact with disinfectants and other chemicals, which can erode rhodium very quickly. With platinum rings however, the integrity of the metal will remain, though it may become grey over time with prolonged exposure to powerful cleaning agents.
